February Wedding Tasting
Wedding experts say January is the time brides begin to book their weddings, but Kahn’s Catering knows that many brides and grooms begin finalizing plans for their wedding shortly after the New Year too. To help our couples in the planning process, Kahn’s Catering offers a complimentary menu tasting to qualifying couples that takes them through the experience of a wedding reception. Because of our passion, and our love for entertaining and event planning, it is our goal to inspire our clients through food and creative ideas. Our tasting is designed to give our clients the most realistic experience possible so they can understand the high expectations we have set for ourselves in terms of service, food, presentation and overall timely execution of an event. At one of our largest menu tastings to date, Kahn’s Catering welcomed our wedding clients on February 5th to our exclusive Northside venue, Montage, for an evening designed to showcase our food, our service, and our knowledge in the industry. Beginning in the Champagne and Chardonnay rooms, guests sampled butler-passed hors d’oeuvres while chatting with Event Specialists. We served a selection of both hot and cold hors d’oeuvres including our very popular BLT tomato, jumbo shrimp cocktail shooter, and pan seared crab cakes with red pepper remoulade sauce (seen above!). A favorite of the evening were the fingerling potatoes with Camembert and asparagus tip and truffle oil. Not only was this delicious hors d’oeuvre popular, but everyone liked that they are also gluten-free and vegetarian! Perfect for catering to any palate!
The Champagne and Chardonnay rooms were filled with chatter as guests began tasting and indulging in the specialty Italian soda station and champagne bars. Both rooms featured custom designed tablescapes where guests took the opportunity to sit and chat with our Vice President of Food and Beverage, Brian Poonpanij. The talk of the room was certainly the food but also the tall and custom made wedding cake, a delicious and gorgeous wedding cake provided by Kahn’s Catering. A special complimentary feature that accompanies our Special Occasion Packages. Many guests fawned over the lovely, delicate floral design of the cake that was both elegant, yet modern.
Following cocktail hour guests moved into the Cabernet room for a plated meal service featuring a salad course and duel-plated entree of both chicken and beef, as well as assorted breads with French butter balls and sundried tomato butter. As guests enjoyed their meals they chatted about what they loved and made notes on provided menus. Also asking questions to Event Specialists and Venue Representatives that were available and mingling about the room.
To give our guests as close to a realistic wedding reception dining experience as possible a salad station, small plate station and dessert station were setup in the Riesling room. With cocktail tables lining the walls, guests socialized with one another and tried a variety of menu choices following the seated meal. Each of the small plate stations was designed to provide a taste of a menu item that could be either a small plate or a main entree for their special day. Chefs Eric, Nardo, and Jose created small plates as guests lined up featuring shortribs, shrimp, and salmon dishes. Once guests returned to their seats in the Cabernet room they were treated to a vanilla wedding cake with white chocolate buttercream filling and frosting.
As guests nibbled away at the delectable desserts they selected from the dessert station and a vanilla wedding cake with white chocolate buttercream, owner, Joe Husar, spoke to guests about how to plan the perfect menu for their event. Offering tips from how to select appetizers to determining whether a plated or buffet meal was the best option for their reception, and how to keep a balance in the menu they were planning.
As the evening came to a close, many guests began making appointments with their Event Specialists to begin planning their menus. Smiles could be seen on everyone’s faces and the reviews from the evening were raving. See what some of our guests had to say about the tasting:
