Tribute to Judy O’Bannon at Indiana State Museum
The Indiana State Museum hosted former First Lady Judy O’Bannon at their annual Tribute Dinner, bestowing their most prestigious honor, the Heritage Keeper Award. This recognition highlights Judy O’Bannon’s service to the state and her efforts towards community service that show her Hoosier spirit. O’Bannon is the fifth person to receive this award. Each annual Tribute Dinner is a fundraising event supporting exhibition and dynamic programming for visitors and students from around the state for the Indiana State Museum. This year’s Tribute attracted 315 supporters.
The evening began with butler passed hors d’oeuvres followed by a plated meal and awards presentation. When guests entered the O’Bannon Great Hall of Indiana State Museum they were greeted by light colored linens and gold chiavari chairs accented by white Spring floral centerpieces. Each table was preset with both the first and third courses so that guests could enjoy as they were seated.
President and CEO of the Indiana State Museum, Thomas King, welcomed guests, recognized main sponsors, and thanked the committee that put together the event that evening. Carrie Newcomer, an Indiana native and singer-songwriter, performed prior to Randy Shepard speaking of First Lady Judy O’Bannon and to close the evening. Shepard, a seventh generation Hoosier, and former Chief Justice of the Indiana Supreme Court. The evening was filled with Hoosier hearted individuals and plenty of spirit… Including the Hoosier Heritage – the 2015 Indiana cocktail winner!
