Abby and Ben’s wedding reception at the Indiana State Museum was impeccable. We love even more that they made use of two of our exclusive venues by stopping off at Newfields to take wedding portraits on their magnificent grounds before their reception. Following their ceremony at St. John’s Cathedral and photos, the couple and their guests began the evening’s celebration with cocktail hour on the Upper Terrace, just outside the Farmers Market Café of the state museum, with up-close views of the downtown Indianapolis skyline and Military Park across the canal. The reception was held in Gov. Frank and Judy O’Bannon Great Hall, the museum’s main event space.

Their style and wedding vision was the perfect match for this venue. Sunny skies and beautiful weather complimented the evening giving us some glorious photos by Danielle Harris Photography. With such abundant natural light in the reception space, guests were able to comfortably enjoy the setting sun leading up to the dance party that capped off the evening. Hors D’oeuvres

Braised beef short rib, red wine demi-glace, truffle polenta, asparagus with stem-on carrots and julienne of red bell peppers

Third Course
Chocolate cake, salted caramel, chocolate buttercream
Vanilla cake with white chocolate buttercream

With a quick stop at Newfields, the couple and their wedding party used the art museum as the backdrop for their formal portraits.

While guest entered the Great Hall from Ball Family Terrace by taking the outdoor staircase to the canal level, Abby and Ben made their grand entrance down the museum’s main staircase inside. The scrim rose as they entered the space to smiles and cheers from their wedding party, family and friends.
