Kathleen + Steven at Eiteljorg
We would never wish for rain on anyone’s weather day, but sometimes Mother Nature has different plans. The rain in Indiana this summer has certainly been great for the flowers, but when you’re planning a day to remember forever – your wedding – having to make a rain call is never an easy choice. Fortunately, having a back-up plan keeps the party moving.
Kathleen and Steve had a vision for their wedding. They wanted to get married in the outdoor gardens at Eiteljorg Musem, host their cocktail hour and reception in Clowes Sculpture Court and then go back outside to dance the night away under the sails along the canal…but it rained. This wasn’t about to stop anyone. Our Kahn’s Catering team set to work to make it all they wanted. The ceremony was brought indoors, cocktail hour was shifted to Eagle Commons, and the reception space was reorganized to make room for dancing.
Before all the festivities could begin, Katheleen and Steve shared an intimate first look under a covered area outside of Eiteljorg on the west side of the building before walking down the aisle. Both ceremony and cocktail hour were held in Eagle Commons for guests and the bridal party while the bride and groom were able to enjoy a bit of time outside between rainfalls to take a gondola ride along the canal.

While there wasn’t dancing under the sails like was initially planned, there was still quite a bit of dancing. The party kicked off with a first dance of the bride and groom. Kathleen and Steve provided the best detail that many hard dancing wedding guest would love – a pair of dancing shoes! In baskets lining the dance floor were flipflops in a variety of sizes for guests to grab. It’s little additions like this that help a guest feel well taken care of.
Kathleen and Steve had a beautiful wedding ceremony and reception. Their colors were vibrant and exciting – perfect for a summer wedding. Our event specialist Heidi said she greatly enjoyed working with this couple and from our Kahn’s Catering team, we wish them a lifetime of wonderful married moments!
