Fine Day for a White Wedding
When you dream of your wedding day, visions of white often come to mind – although not always due to a gorgeous white dress. We were stunned and amazed at the elegant all-white transformation of Randolph H. Deer Special Events Pavilion at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Beautiful cascading fabric took the grandeur of the ballroom to a completely new venue that dreams are made of.
With the assistance of Eventful Planning, represented by planner Teresa Gift, both Kathleen and Andy certainly had the wedding of a lifetime. Beginning the party with a cocktail hour in the Randolph H. Deer Special Events Pavilion foyer before moving in the pavilion for dinner and dancing, with the last stop of the evening being Pulliam Great Hall for an after party with late-night snacks!
Settled in a cloud of lush white, tables were decorated in light pink and gold. Centerpieces were both tall and short with a mix of flowers including hydrangeas, roses and orchids. Each table circled with a gold chiavari chair and decorated with white tulle and pink roses. Tea candle created an ambient glow against the menu card providing the evenings menu.
The focal point of the dance floor was the wedding cake. Four tall, buttercream layers with gold beading which proudly sat behind a large gold ‘R’ – the initial of the newlyweds. Something we don’t see often (but wished we saw more of) is a groom’s cake! We love the design of this two tier cake topped with a tractor. Not only is a groom’s cake a great way to honor your groom with something of his own on his wedding day, but it also helps celebrating him by displaying something he loves.
Before guests could enjoy the absolute splendor of Randolph H. Deer Special Events Pavilion, they witnessed the marriage of Kathleen and Andy at St. John’s Catholic Church. Shuttles were available to take guests from the church to the Indianapolis Museum of Art, as well as pick-up and drop off at guest hotels. As they arrived, hors d’oeuvres were available along with an open bar.

We love large weddings and this wedding was on the larger side. With that comes a bit of operational savvy to keep things running smoothly and on time. For example, while guests were enjoying cocktail hour and the bridal party made their arrival – the bride and groom had an opportunity to view their reception space for the first time as our team began pre-pouring champagne for the toast.
Guests were welcomed into the reception space and were asked to take their seats. Andy’s father provided a welcome to all guests and then the maid of honor and best man took turns giving speeches to the bride and groom. The happy couple cut their cake and Father Richard gave a blessing and the meal service began.
